Here I am working Nero after Lee. When Lee worked Nero I noticed Nero was a little uncomfortable with his front legs off the ground. The dog had no real confidence issues and never approached avoidance but rather he knew with his front legs off the ground he was at a disadvantage. So in this series I taught the dog he could win the fight even if he was pulled off the ground. All he had to do was try hard enough to pull me down to win.
I pull him off the ground putting a little pressure on him by staring him in the eye.
He is pulling me down notice I am letting him win and looking away, letting him know that I am uncomfortable.
Here he is totally winning and pulling hard.
Now I make him fight again, notice the eye contact and I am beginning to pull him up again.
Notice I am easing the pressure again and looking away Nero is pulling hard and winning the fight again, pulling his front feet back down on the ground and letting me know who the boss is.
The fight is back on but not as hard or as long.
Now he really wants to win look how hard he is pulling
And he wins
Below is some civil work. The dog had been worked in prey on the sleeve all day and my purpose at this point had been to get the dog to focus on the man before the day was over. I also wanted to bring a little bit of defense out in the dog and let him know that defense works as well. At least in the below photos I succeeded. They are not in order.
Derrick you did a great job handling Nero. I REALLY LIKE YOUR DOG NERO.
