The landscape moves by him slowly, steadily; the triplet of his hoofbeats thuds in his ear as Ash reflects on his life. He has no delusions about his greatness. He knows flowers will not wilt when he touches them. He knows that his look will not put the fear of God in anyone or anything, and he knows there will be no thunder when he arrives. There is no pretentious prose to announce his arrival. He does not ruminate on the meaning of life, nor does he make insightful and poetic comments. This is not who he is. He is quite sure of it. He lopes onward, his lithe, muscled body making quick work of the ground ahead of him. He is not tall by any stretch, but his legs are long and lanky and he moves with an easy, almost feline grace. He is unsure of his breeding: the slow, rippling curls of his mane and tail are undeniably Friesian, but his shorter stature and leaner body suggest a little Arabian influence; his long, attractive face indicates Thoroughbred blood. But how is pedigree even important, he wonders?
As the scenery changes, Ash allows his sharp mind to wander. He has come from a place where he was a somebody, but he left it to become a nobody. There is nothing about him to suggest his once-important birth-right, except maybe for the slightly arrogant curve of his neck, and the sure way he picks up his feet. He knows that here his past is irrelevant, and he does not intend to carry it forward. As a prince, he had seen enough. As a leader, he had seen enough. As a general, a fighter, a king - enough, enough, enough. He is finished with this. Ash pulls in a deep breath and with a long exhale, breathes out his past, letting each molecule of air carry away his tension, his scars, his history. A sudden, inexplicable gust of wind rushes by him, the warm air blowing his mind blissfully empty. It also lifts his forelock out of his eye, allowing him a rare, completely unhindered view of the world. Ash is not an optimist: he is a realist, but still here he feels the promise of the future stretching before him.
He feels no immediate pull to the new territory around him, no intrinsic pull to the land: but he has never been like this. He has always been too reserved to allow himself to feel these instinctual, subconscious, almost mystical feelings, preferring to stick to his mind and the empirical logic of the world around him. But still, he, the stoic, almost unfeeling master of composure, allows himself a brief flicker of feeling. Hope.
"Hello," he calls out, drawing to a halt. There is not a soul in sight; the only one to welcome him here so far appears to be the sun, burning high and uncomfortably bright in the sky, reflecting off his thick dark pelt. He is mysterious - he is taciturn - he is unfathomable - (or so he fancies himself coming off as all these things) - but alas, he cannot help it, he is sociable. "Is there anyone out there? I'm new here, and I could use a little help."
- Ash
About him:
Name: Ash
Age: Not exceedingly old, not really young. Let's say six.
Breed: Various things. See post.
Gender: Stallion.
Strength: His intelligence and bluntness. He is capable of seeing things for what they really are, and is not afraid to tell it like it is.
Weakness: He's very arrogant and very set in his ways. He likes to think he comes off a certain way, but in reality he's usually unsuccessful at projecting the image he wants to maintain, which is this emotionless, stoic thing.
Minor Objective: Achieve a ranking within the harem of his assignment - not just the basic "put your name on the board" thing, but at least the first ranking in the scholar track.
Super Objective: Have someone convince him that he is an arrogant douchebag who needs to stop lying to himself about who he really is, and convince him to start being true to himself.
Harem Preference: Wherever you need him.
Intended Class: Scholar.
About me:
Name or Alias: Court
Email/other contact information will be dispensed as necessary. My activity here may be a little sporadic, due to my busy university life. But I really wanted to join and I promise I'll try really hard. Ash's picture is forthcoming. And forgive me, it's been a few years since I've roleplayed so I might be a little (or very) rusty, but I couldn't resist the pull of 5e...
