He passed forward into the land of the Elements. His name was Char. He was perpetually without age and he was beautiful without definition. And he was august, but unimposing. His poise of bearing was bare, without physical expression representative of any form of internal demeanor. But the air that sprang from the formation and pulse and breathing of his body and his face was solemn and poignant, one that would excite a deep and somber response in the reflection of an acquaintance. But he was kind. And intelligent. And gracious.
Char is a being that entertains a curious charismatic gift, in which when he reaches his soft hands with long pales fingers out to another in casual and nonchalant ease and amiability, he also excites through a common impression of compassion and consideration a mood of content and comfort. The respect he feels for each individual is also perpetual in its unbiased nature; it is always welcoming. And therefore, his acquaintances too often love him in his beauty and his charisma. Interaction, however, is not a constant aspect of his life, despite his gifts. Char, in truth, favors a state of isolation. His conversations are only the gifts of request, his presence often fleeting. His social interactions are little more than trivial amusements, collateral aspects of his animated existence. No, do not assume that he is a misogynist, oh- do not make that swift and false misapprehension. He too much adores the occasional presence of others to litter the physical landscape that is part of the present fabrication of his chosen lifestyle; to live among a chosen society that is to be his pleasure to observe and to entertain, and by which to be entertained.
The range of his age and experience and intelligence is not to be assumed in any way superior to any other individual, no- please do not make that assumption, but there is some form of detachment between Char, in his potent and obscurely ambiguous characteristics, and the aggregate mannerisms of the general population of his company. This differentiation, however, is something that must be demonstrated rather than explained. Explanation is of course possible, but the image that Char would present in such a location and society as this one, is something that conceals rather then exhibits the depths and ranges of his character and the collective phenomena and memories of his past. In this consideration, explanation of what and who Char genuinely is in history and in character beyond his pleasant manners and appearance, is far too long, grandiose, and inconsequential of a matter for the –politely- paltriness of the lands of the Elements.
So, in presentation of Char, and recognition of this truth, let us in my last narration before his presence here is told only by a omnipresent third voice witness him in the superficial portrayal which he will in future exhibition alone be seen:
His passing was without impressionable significance in any way. He walked, his legs moving without haste in long strides through the grass that carpeted the fields below an impregnated sky. His manner was austere in his solitary state of aloneness, undemanding of formalities or decorum. And he was a beautiful figure, distinct from the planes of the bare and brooding landscape, his body lovely in its stone color and its grace. His ease and state of being were grandiose.
His direction was that of the shore, of status, and of war.
