Sample Post: She was quite aware of her surroundings; the mournful groan of a curlew where it was nestled warily upon its loose round nest in a perfect harmony of browns and whites, blending so meticulously into the litter crowding in drying disarray the forest floor; the whispering coolness of the winter breeze when it surged gently forward, winding and twisting effortlessly between the tall smooth trunks of leopard trees, shattering the quivering clusters of tiny round leaves so they were like spinning falling shards of green and yellow glass; the stillness of this strange new world and the smothering darkness of the night into which she had arrived.
The mare’s brown eyes were wide as they travelled between the slim looming silhouettes of the trees, scanning and absorbing, while her perfectly erect ears trembled and listened through the sudden rise of sickening silence. Her dark black-brown coat blended well with the darkness, and she had learnt to travel only under such comprehensive cover, that which combines the depth of the forest and the isolation of the night. And she felt secure and safe for now, ready to begin the challenges that would see her striving to commit to the services of a new home.
