I'm sure you are right, but the desert Sheikh fantasy is just that, and consequently blinkered. Although I read desert sheikh fantasy romance novels (and others) I can put hand on heart and say that I never learned anything worthwhile about the Arab lifestyle from them.
That doesn't stop me enjoying the fantasy though.
