I woke up this morning finding myself wondering why is it that humans do not have the ability of seeing what is important in their lives until it is gone.
Everyone always says that you have to live like if today was your last day, but face it, no one does that. We all procrastinate whether because we are lazy or because we think there are other priorities at the top of our list. And I am sure that those priorities, when carefully evaluated, should remain at the top of the list. But what if you could have two number one at the top? Is it really impossible to take care of two apparently contrasting things at once or is it just lack of courage and will?
And what is even more puzzling is that this seems to be happening at all levels, from the small everyday life of each one of us to the biggest problems of the whole planet. How is it possible that even some moderately intelligent people are not able to break this pattern?
Or is it that we suddenly want something *because* we cannot have it?
I doubt I will ever have an answer to this question, I just hope that those who wonder from time to time about this issue will not find themselves with nothing more than a fist full of sand at the end of their lives.
