Ok.......so I have a bee in my bonnet (um......many bees)! I am not happy about this new TV comedy series, "The United States of Tara." My mom has DID and I do not recall any "comedy" around our house while growing up. I have decided to do something about the way this show makes me feel......sort of like setting my bees free. At first, I wanted to do an online petition (to get the show canned). Well, they do not work! If you are interested in why here is the link to help you understand http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/petition/internet.asp I had to then figure out another way to voice my concern. The suggested way is to write (in handwriting which is unique to you and not typed) to the person who can have impact on the core problem. It should be a letter from the heart and the heart of others within you. You could tell your story, maybe voice how the show makes you feel or explain DID. It is ok to use crayon if the Little's need to say how they feel. If I, you and we all write letters it will make a greater impact. Remember, avoiding confrontation will gain greater respect. I send courage to all of you and thoughts of peace.
The person who green lit this show is named Robert Greenblatt (Bob). He ok'd production to begin on the twelve episode series this summer. 2009 is the expected Showtime viewing. If you feel inclined to write Bob his contact information is.......
Call Showtime , NOT the New York number.
Call Bob Greenblatt in California .... His direct # is 310-234-5301 He will answer,or leave a message, he WILL hear it. His assistant, Brian, will give him ALL messages!
Showtimes general # in California is 310-234-5200
Bob Greenblatts direct FAX # is 310-234-5448
Write,write, write. The California address is:
Bob Greenblatt, President of Entertainment
Showtime
10880 Wilshire Bl., suite 1600
Los Angeles, CA. 90024
After you hand write your letter.....make a copy. This will allow you to send it again as many times as necessary.
You can also do the following;
We MUST be pro-active. Showtime is a "premium" TV service that WE PAY FOR. Let's use our strength as consumers. Contact your content provider, Direct TV, Dish Network, Cable etc. Tell them if they don't put pressure on Showtime to stop producing and supporting "The United States of Tara" that you will cancel your "premium" service. THEY can do it. Direct TV partnered with "Friday Night Live" for a joint production effort to keep it on the air, the public pressure helped.
Good luck to us all!!!
May we be pro-active!! !!
Sincerely,
Michelle
