My husband & I met dancing at BW over 5 years ago and I had been there for a few before that I am sad that we don't come very often anymore mostly because the last several times we have not enjoyed all of the non-country music. There was only one cha-cha played and I happened to be in the restroom at the time. We too remember when there was always a cha-cha then a horse shoe. We do the other dances and I like the line dances but we want country and the basics should not be ignored. Like I said we use to go all the time and now we don't we will try again tonight and hope the old BW is there again I love the place.

: Back "in the day", there was a
: pretty predictable pattern to which songs
: were next. It went sort of like: a slow
: dance (or dances) was followed by a couple
: of line dances, then a couple two steps, a
: "West Coast Swing", a copule of
: "pattern partner dances"
: (schottiche,cha cha, Horseshoe (a horseshoe
: ALWAYS followed a cha cha), a waltz, a slow
: dance or two.... start over again.
: Although people complained about the
: particular SONGS that were played, this
: "pattern" of dances gave everyone
: something.
: And, the "pattern" could be, and
: was, varied for line dance night (meaning
: more line dances worked in). AND the
: contemporary rock and r&b stuff didn't start
: till "late".
: The "older folks" who knew how to
: dance (partner dances and line dances both)
: were ready to go home anyhow, or had already
: left.
: Saturday, the non country stuff started
: earlier.
:
: Oh, and I've never understood why there
: isn't some sort of process where dances that
: Joyce teaches aren't worked into the play
: list more.
:
: I've had lots of people tell me (and I
: agree) that they don't even bother to learn
: new dances, because they are never played
: again (except for the following week).
: Surely, some sort of system could be worked
: out for Thursday?
