: "As for dance floor etiquette, it is
: almost non-existent, especially when the
: swing dancers are on the floor. Joyce goes

:
: I agree that etiquette seems to be less than
: common knowledge on the busier nights
: sometimes. If we want to define the dance
: community into "partner dancers"
: and "line dancers", I think the
: etiquette problem is demonstrated by both
: sides fairly equally. Although most people
: seem to "get it", a few don't. For
: instance, when a song is played that you can
: line dance to or two-step to, the line
: dancers out in the middle of the floor are
: occasionally "mowed over" by some
: two-steppers who feel they are entitled to
: practically the enitre floor. Then, on the
: other side of the coin, there are also a few
: line dancers with a tendency to occupy more
: than their share of space on the floor, and
: make it difficult or annoying for their
: "neighbors" on the floor. On those
: crowded nights, everyone needs to tighten up
: their moves a little, and be courteous to
: the others out there.
:
: Still, I think the floor at Bushwhackers is
: far better than those "other"
: places around town, where etiquette isn't
: even in the dictionary. I just wish there
: was a better or more practical way of
: getting the word out to everyone.

Experienced at dancing on the Bushwhacker's floor, part of the problem is selfishness and lack of courtesy, but a large part of the problem is attributable to dancers simply not looking up. Look up when you dance. And guys, whether you are two steppin' or west coastin', you are the leader and responsbile for watching the floor. And lastly, ladies, you are responsible for your turns, no leader can control that for you, keep your head up, eyes open and when executing turns, know what is in your way or coming your way. Lack of etiquette is certainly part of the problem, but learning to dance within "your" space is another.
