The few times I've gone over to put in a request the sheet is blank, even late in the night, so I'm assuming they get taken down when they are full. It might help ease some of the requesters frustrations if they could see what's already been requested, what's been played from the request list already, and how far down the list their request is.
People making requests also need to keep in mind that even if their song is first on the list it likely won't be played until that type of dance is up in the rotation.
I was also the origional poster for the "keeping everyone happy" thread and I'm glad to see there were others who voiced the same feelings as I did. We appreciate you hearing our input and know you try hard to accomadate all of us. Thanks for everything you do!

: I DJ on most Thursday and Saturday nights and
: will respond to a couple of the items from
: this posting.
:
: RE #1 - I don't care what type of dancing
: you are there to do, the dance floor is to
: be shared equally by everyone.
:
: #2 - Tips don't guarantee a song will be
: played, especially if the song has already
: been played (besides, I don't usually keep
: track of who tipped me and what they
: requested). I don't play the songs in the
: order they are on the sheet. On a Saturday
: night I am usually working off two or three
: (sometimes four) pages of requests, just
: because it's first on the list doesn't mean
: there aren't other songs on other pages
: ahead of it. And, if it's written at the
: top before 7 pm, I am assuming it's from the
: night before. Lastly, I play a majority of
: what's on the lists sooner or later - so
: make your request well ahead of time.
:
: #3 - Do not request songs from Joyce or
: management. However, you may want to ask
: Joyce how many line dances are played during
: the night.
:
: #4 - Just about every 3rd song is a line
: dance, this is reflected in the play-log of
: the - it records the song info and date/time
: it was played. I'm more than happy to show
: it to anyone. There is no way I could get
: away with playing only 2 or 3 line dance
: songs in a two hour period, regardless of
: what night it is, so I have to call BS on
: that (if I was working that night). There
: is no specified night for a certain dance.
: Yes, a line dance is taught on Thurs and
: usually a couples dance on Saturday. This
: does not mean the whole night, or even the
: majority of the night, will be that type of
: dance (besides, some couples dances are
: pattern dances, not just 2step/waltz/west
: coast swing/etc.).
:
: #5 - agreed...to an extent. Joyce has
: taught many, but many of them are rarely
: done anymore. How often do I get a request
: for "slappin' leather"...almost
: never...except from people who are from out
: of town. People request the same line dance
: songs/dances almost every week, it's not my
: choice to play the same ones. The easy
: dances (electric slide, boot scoot boogie,
: watermelon crawl, strokin' are
: "staples" because they are the
: easiest ones to learn/do and, invariably,
: they will be the only dance or dances that
: some people know. I might add that there
: are people that have been going in there for
: years that still request the same song/dance
: every night.
:
: If anyone wants to discuss their concerns
: with me, feel free to come up and talk with
: me at the DJ booth. Believe it or not, I'm
: pretty reasonable. I play music for
: everyone to dance to, not just one segment
: of the crowd.
