Okay, guess I have to add my 2 cents worth to this conversation. I have only been going to BW on Thursdays for about 2 years so am a newbie but here are the things I have noticed.
1. As for dance floor etiquette, it is almost non-existent, especially when the swing dancers are on the floor. Joyce goes over dance floor etiquette, but for the most part people are talking and not paying attention, since they are line dancers and not partner dancers. And generally the partner dancers are at their tables not listening.
2. Requesting music to be played does not work even if you tip the DJ. More than once I have requested song(s) with what I consider a good tip and the song(s) are not played. On two occasions the song I requested was first on the list and never played.
Why tip?
3. Music Man said to talk to Joyce about more line dances. This has been discussed with Joyce. She is NOT in charge of the music or BW. She says to talk to the DJ or management!!!!
4. Music Man said every 3rd song is a line dance. I kept track two different nights. If you count Tush Push and the dance learned at the lesson that night, maybe every third song is a line dance but the two nights I keep track for two hours, not counting the two dances after the National Anthem, one night there were 3 and the other night 2 line dance songs played. This does NOT come out to every third song. Thursday night is line dance night, the couples have Friday and Saturday to partner dance. As pointed out there are any number of songs that can be danced to as both a partner dance and a line dance.
5. According to the list Joyce handed out she has taught approximately 70 line dances over the years, yet the same dances are done over and over again to ad nauseam.
6. If you want the beginners to come back on Thursday’s BW needs to cater to the line dancers more on that one particular night.
