Probably the best known example of a Musicians Collective in Britain is the band Bellowhead. As it says on their website, ‘Blending folk, rock, ska, jazz, soul and world music influences with dashes of English Music Hall and cabaret, the 11 musicians of Bellowhead play more than 20 instruments, six of them sing and their arrangements are already the stuff of legend.’

Of course a new collective has to start somewhere - and the starting point for us is deciding to get together every week to play live music - and putting out this invitation for you to join us.

Once the music starts to flow it might well lead to us writing our own numbers, working on arrangements, discovering fusions of different styles of music - we love celtic beats, latin and world music as well as the folk, rock, funk and jazz most people play - and then we'll probably go on to arrange gigs and studio recording sessions when the time is right.
But all that is for the future.

The first thing is to connect, meet and find out who wants to be a part of it.
So if you might want to be part of this new locally based Musicians Collective contact us at liveandopen@googlemail.com
