Poppy is fab to catch in a field ad stands at the gate waiting/comes to call fantastically. Currently she has two front shoes for road work however came to me barefoot and had been for years and had no problems with this.
Poppy is a fabulous and truly bombproof hack horse who doesn't bat an eyelid at farm machinery, animals, people, cyclists, lorries cars...the lot. She loves to hack out and is lovely and forward with a beautiful relaxed and enjoyable canter. She works well in all 3 paces in the school, she is forward and needs a little bit of reminding not to rush however I bought her as a complete novice and she has been fabulous to learn on! My husband is a complete beginner and is learning on her currently and she works fantastically for him.
Poppy loves to jump! She is never going to be a top eventing/SJ prospect as she can drag her toes but she is wonderful, steady and safe to learn on which is the job she is perfect for!
She would very much suit a one to one home, where she can build a bond with her owner and I would say she is VERY definitely safe and happy to work with a confident novice rider, or even a confident beginner under instruction. This is the job she has done for us wonderfully! She has never bolted, reared or done anything nasty (Outside of the usual odd hedge monster spook here and there) and really does work wonderfully for you when asked and has brought my riding on immensely.
The bad/noteable points:
Poppy needs an experienced hand on the ground while you establish a relationship, she can be a head strong mare and is a VERY large horse so needs a firm hand. However, once this relationship/trust is established she is much better. I have no problems with her, however she can test new handlers.
Also, she has a potential sarcoid under her right armpit. This has been checked/poked and prodded by the vet who said to just leave it be as it is not causing any problem. It has not changed in all the time I have owned her, however for this reason I would suggest
ride her with a fleece girth protector; I would have had this removed, however the vet said there was little point as it is causing no issues.
I desperately want Poppy to go to a fantastic new home where she can continue doing what she is good! Pleas don't hesitate to contact me for videos/any questions etc.
Payment arrangement considered.
