This is right out of the online rule book. I think this should answer the question.
7 - Race secretary can opt for ½ second splits in arenas with less than 60 feet between 1st and 2nd. Race producers have the option of having a 4-D or 5-Format. All points acquired in each 5-D division will count towards their Year End Standings Points.
Basically it's up to each producer if it's option 1/2 or option 1 and if it's a 4-D or 5-D. Hope that helps.
