Hi again Jay, Terry here. Thanks for mentioning about the ring on the windmill and in the pic. My Bulgaria has the same thing, even as the spear - I was afraid it might not grow out right or just spread - but as you say is rather common and no reason to panic. (and some of us would panic)! It sounded like you have a Brazoria planted? - I was wondering what the other palms were you had out... I will see what survives here - some of the others I have are Butia Bonneti, Jubaea/Butia, Brazoria too, Birmingham S., Washington Filifera, Texas Sabal, Trachy Nanus, Trachy Wag., + Takil, Taylor, and Bulgaria. Oh, and the Spanish Moss I got from (inland) South Carolina already survived last winter, even with the wind. I did just read, like some other plants and palms, it is hardier and different from specimens farther south and in Florida. It can go dormant for months in cold or drought. (Just thought you might like to know)?? Anyway I'll see how the palms do over the winter with some (but not excessive) protection. Anything too high maintenence would probably not survive long term anyway - but I don't mind initially giving them adequate protection the first couple of winters to get them acclimated. And then maybe if there's severe cold... By the way I wanted to mention how big your bananas look - have to wonder how big they'll get by the end of the summer. It would be more appropriate to call them banana TREES. Hope you all have a great holiday week-end, Terry
