An American Bulldog or pit, thats where your working and real prey drive for your Bandogs come from, a Mastiff (by definition means large farm dog) and there is such a small gene pool of people out there truly breeding working mastiffs. The word Bandog mean "Purpose bred working dog"
Yes you are correct, there is the larger Johnson type, or the Standard type of American Bulldogs.
