I grew the trachy from seed. Don't remember the age. Maybe 4-5 years?? Not sure. It has grown quite a bit in this site, although it would grow much faster with regular waterings. Maybe I can talk the groundskeeper into watering this bed. It's difficult access. They'd have to drag a hose a long distance ... unless they just hooked up to the fire pipe!
Don't know why the crape gets aphids so bad. Maybe lack of natural predators?? It's surrounded by asphalt and buildings in all directions. I have Dynamite at home and it's virtually pest-free. Will likely remove in the Spring.
