Brian - Absolutely! That is a perfect recipe! Brown chopped up leaves with chopped up green grass! Let the lawn mower do the chopping and mixing for you.
The only thing I would caution is if you think you would be picking up a lot of crabgrass seed - maybe you would then take the bagger off while you mow that part (if you have it) - but otherwise, yes, yes, yes.
If you've been mowing but not bagging all summer, your lawn can get it over it for the next few mowings while you clean up leaves. Ha!
