“We believe that the sun is in the sky at midday in Summer not because we can clearly see the sun (in fact, we cannot) but because we can see everything else” ~C. S. Lewis
The shadow of a human person follows us whenever the sun illuminates our journey through life, and exposes all that once remain concealed.
We know that GOD IS LIGHT and no shadow of darkness can exist in that which is the source of our very being, and the lamp that will shepherd us through our life's journey.
Facing the truth more often, or not demands that each of us sheds light on our behaviour, enabling us to make changes that reflect our understanding that we can live a happier, and more fulfilling life when we change our direction.
1 John 1 (NIV)
Light and Darkness, Sin and Forgiveness
5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
Metaphor is used extensively throughout Holy Scripture to enable the reader to understand that out of the void of darkness, the first command of God was “Let there be light” (Genesis 1:3), and light appeared and was given a name (day).
Light, and shadow...day, and night...demonstrate to us that we can lose our sense of direction when darkness settles into our life, leading us into in a wilderness of fear, and foreboding the result of having lost our way.
Isaiah 42:16
"I will lead the blind by a way they do not know, In paths they do not know I will guide them. I will make darkness into light before them And rugged places into plains. These are the things I will do, And I will not leave them undone."

Is all LIGHT good?

Enlightenment

John 10:27
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
Satan transforms himself into “an angel of light” (Lucifer) a description that highlights his capacity and inclination to deceive...and lead astray all who are self serving, thereby opposing the invitation of Our Father to love one another, as He loves us. Satan is the adversary of God known by many names, with the intention of sowing confusion, and destruction among those who are drawn to his side by self seeking ambitions founded in greed.
Enlightenment is a life long process of discovering who we are, by following the call of The Saviour...to serve, one another.
Self focus (selfishness) opposes all that The Saviour invites us to become, when asking us to serve one another.
It is not in our self-interest to be selfish. Rather, self-denial is in our self-interest.
It's fundamental to our trust in God, to understand that God's interest is in our self-interest. It is in our self-interest to deny ourselves.
Selfishness is prioritising our own self seeking wants, over the immediate needs of those who as if by chance appear in our life, seeking our practical assistance.
John 15:15
From now on I call you not servants; for the servant knows not what his lord does: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known to you.
