It refers to the Golden Globes event, where most of the women wore black dresses to demonstrate against wayward male sexual incidents, mostly in the past, when they seemed to escape everyone’s attention. The black dresses also seemed to be making a point about economy, as most of them constituted exercises in fabric-saving in the area of the bodice, and at least one I saw saved on labour costs by leaving a seam in the skirt un-sewn. For cleavage and thigh appreciators, it was most rewarding, but as a protest against unwanted male observation and sexual response, it fell a tad short. Indeed, some might have thought it a little hypocritical since it seemed to say, “Let me excite you, but I’ll prosecute you if it works.”
Anyway, back to Oprah’s contribution. It commences:
You’ve already heard about it.
Oprah’s speech at the Golden Globes.
The way the lemmings talk about it was as if Jesus himself entered Oprah’s body and enabled her to speak a better, feminist, and a more progressive sermon on the mount.
The crowd of enabler Hollywood elitists stood, cried, and lauded their Philosopher King. It was (and is) religious for the Left.
As Milo Yiannopoulos [url=
“She spoke to a room full of women who were Perpetrators masquerading as victims and she blessed them and absolved them…”
And now, because of *one speech*...
...they (the leftist Hollywood Perps) want her to run for President in 2020!
Wait - what?
So, let's break down that speech point for point...
Here are the highlights (the entire speech is a bit long for a single blog post):
After the introduction about how cool it is for her to be black and getting an award (because the far left make EVERYTHING about race), she says:
“I want to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association because we all know the press is under siege these days...”
Ummmm...where was the Hollywood Foreign Press Association over the past several DECADES? If this Golden Globes was all about going after sexual predators in Hollywood, then why does Oprah thank the ones who literally enabled them with their silence?
Yuck.
Moving right along:
“We also know it's the insatiable dedication to uncovering the absolute truth that keeps us from turning a blind eye to corruption and to injustice. To -- to tyrants and victims, and secrets and lies. I want to say that I value the press more than ever before as we try to navigate these complicated times, which brings me to this: what I know for sure is that speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have...”
The ONLY thing Oprah herself, and most of the people at the Golden Globes, HAVE DONE is turn a blind eye to corruption and injustice. Everyone has known about the pay to play culture in Hollywood that sexually preys on young girls and boys.
Yet...nothing.
We heard NOTHING until the last few months. The only “powerful tool” I saw at the Golden Globes…
...was Oprah Winfrey.
And she keeps talking:
“And I'm especially proud and inspired by all the women who have felt strong enough and empowered enough to speak up and share their personal stories. Each of us in this room are celebrated because of the stories that we tell, and this year we became the story.”
What’s the story, specifically? That Hollywood got caught, and now they all have to pretend to be shocked? That story? Now it starts to get to good:
“...so I want tonight to express gratitude to all the women who have endured years of abuse and assault because they, like my mother, had children to feed and bills to pay and dreams to pursue.”
First off - this makes zero sense. Women “endured” abuse, because they had to pay their cell phone bill? And, what does she mean by “endured” here - specifically? I looked it up and the definition is “to bear without resistance or with patience; tolerate.”
So according to Oprah, women let others abuse them to pay their iPhone data plans or something and said NOTHING?
But, didn't she JUST SAY before this that these same women were “strong enough and empowered enough to speak up and share their personal stories?”
They either spoke up, or shut up.
It can't be both.
And by tolerating sexual abuse like she and her Hollywood friends have always done, it just enables and allows the abuse to continue. And it did. For decades! Until they got caught.
Oops. So color me not impressed here.
I’d better not strain relations with Townhall Daily by quoting too much more. In any case, by now, you are either interested, or not, and if the former, you have the link.
Quite frankly I have little interest in the speeches made at any of the Award ceremonies in whatever category in whatever media type presentation. I have always regarded them as nothing more than exercises in mutual admiration and an opportunity for the ill informed to parade ignorance and bias and to be warmly applauded for overt bigotry.
However the Oprah speech, her presentation and its reception together with her known political views and religious view and of course her known wealth, raises questions which invites considerations. This was not one of the many half drunk druggie MC's on an ego trip. This was a woman on a mission and from the media comments and reports, she was most successful.
I think her aspirations for POTUS are laughable. But not so to the many who are far more influential and determined to progress the policies that she promoted. It seems this megastar has been embraced and is being promoted with a degree of seriousness that a few years ago would have been unthinkable.
My question is why is this happening now and in the event that outcomes now unforeseen are successful, what eventualities are likely to occur.
Oprah's interest in matters spiritual are of interest. I note the comments concerning the similarities in the presentation of her TV shows and the Catholic Mass and her attraction to the masses who are now positively more secular than in previous years.
Some interesting times to come it would seem.

The Opera “Oprah”, of course. Surely someone will be inspired to turn “A new day is on the horizon” into the hit number of a turgid paean of praise to Lefty values. (Or is that an oxymoron?)
I too, don’t ever set out to watch any of the award shows, with their shallow effusions of forced bonhomie and occasional essays into hypocrisy, but one couldn’t help hearing Oprah’s tirade, as the adoring lefty TV media forced it upon us in every bulletin.
The rapturous reception of Winfrey's remarks was followed on social media by old pictures of her kissing Weinstein ... just as Golden Globes moralist Meryl Streep won the DeMille Award last year and lovingly described Weinstein as "God" before everyone knew what she could not help but know.
But why has Oprah, with one speech, suddenly become a contender for the office of President? I think it is because she has pandered to the media, stung by President Trump’s accurate allegations of fake news, but now lauded by a celebrity. Again Bozell offers some insight:
Winfrey drew rave reviews in the press for lauding the press. She said: "we all know that the press is under siege these days. But we also know that it is the insatiable dedication to uncovering the absolute truth that keeps us from turning a blind eye to corruption and injustice, to tyrants and victims and secrets and lies."
It's definitely true that The New York Times report on Harvey Weinstein began a great wave of uncovering sexual harassment in Hollywood. But the so-called "insatiable" press has been remarkably passive on this sexual-harassment front for decades. Sexual harassment in Hollywood is so prevalent it has its own name: the "casting couch." The press knew this; it has known this for decades. Why did it wait until 2017 to say something?
As an aside, it does still take two to tango, doesn’t it? How could the casting couch have gained so much influence if it had only ever supported one person? While justifiably calling out the men who have exerted casting couch power, why is it that the women who achieved their ends by submitting to their advances be let off scot-free? The tactic would not have worked if actresses had not put their careers before their morality.
Of late I am increasingly frightened by something I see happening in our culture: it is the seeming superficial-ization of everything in American life to the point of absurdity and deception. The prime culprit of course is the ubiquitous mass media (especially 24-hour cable programming and the Internet) and its constant dumbing down of the American consciousness to the lowest common denominator of the most tantalizing sound bites and images. The other bad boy is the interminable chatter/commentary by clever cultural sharpshooters: it’s so bad sometimes that it makes me wonder if we can actually pull ourselves out of our co-dependence upon charlatans. What makes my priest’s heart so heavy is that I think our society is going down the path of deep spiritual degradation, and it doesn’t look like this trend will be ending any time soon. Certainly not in an election season.
Or the one about the media’s “insatiable dedication to uncovering the absolute truth”, the truth that couch casting has been operating for many decades with never a murmur from the media?

Do the facts change simply because the level of abuse was so unbelievable, that people in the industry refused to believe it could be so horrific...especially when the abusers are people that they interact with on a daily basis within their working environment?
...and in a highly litigious society, such as the United States people wait until the victims speak out before they offer their well considered opinion.
Fifty years ago few within the church believed that so many priests were capable of the abuse, that the clerical abuse scandals have revealed over the recent past. No one spoke out, for their was disbelief. Today, we know better, and speak out.
