I last posted on August 1st . Prior to that, I had posted 21 times, (not counting responses to others’ posts), since the start of April, only four of which drew a response. Prior to April, there had been a bit more activity in 2017, but I think I still had 15 posts, (again, not counting responses to others’ posts), that were not responded to.
One logical conclusion was that I wasn’t posting stuff that was of interest, or concern, to Catholics, true, or otherwise. I therefore decided to shut up, and see whether anyone else wanted to raise issues that would stir interest.
Another possible explanation for the lack of responses is that very little of what I post is my own stuff. I normally simply introduce articles that have appealed to me as having worth, and it is possible that the only true Catholic response would be of the Me-Too variety, and I certainly would not want that.
So, . . . because I couldn’t decide which of these, or some other explanation, applied, I decided to dry-up, as my sainted mother used to say when I yapped on for too long.
Well, that’s my story. What’s yours?
P.S. Some might have wondered why I didn’t contribute to the string following the death of Rev. Fr John George, God rest his soul. I simply decided that prayer for his rapid repose was a better use of my time than keying any inadequate words I could offer. Fr John was true and courageous, and despite his physical frailty, fought the food fight to the end. His detractors would do well to meditate on what he held to be true – they themselves draw ever nearer to mortality. May his soul rest in peace.
