I quote:
The Lord is kind and merciful, slow to anger, and rich in compassion.
He pardons all your iniquities,
heals all your ills.
He redeems your life from destruction,
crowns you with kindness and compassion

An eye, for an eye opens a page leading the protagonist to wallow in a sea raging with anger, calculated to reveal all that the vendetta syndrome imposes on its victims.
17 If someone has done you wrong, do not repay him with a wrong. Try to do what everyone considers to be good.
18 Do everything possible on your part to live in peace with everybody.
19 Never take revenge, my friends, but instead let God's anger do it.
For the scripture says, "I will take revenge, I will pay back, says the Lord."
20 Instead, as the scripture says:
"If your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them a drink; for by doing this you will make them burn with shame."
21 Do not let evil defeat you; instead, conquer evil with good. ~ Romans 12
I've learned over many years that the wise person should avoid any thought of responding with the same measure to those who offend us, knowing well that not answering with the same coin rewards us with the awareness that we have nothing to learn from those who attempt to abuse our self respect.
Self respect has its dignity driven by our understanding that we will never stoop to the level of those who believe that they are our teacher.
In one respect they teach us that we have nothing to learn from them.
