I quote:
Then Jesus said to his disciples,
"Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself,
take up his cross, and follow me.
end quote
Carrying ones cross informs us that we should place our trust in God amid the storms, and trials daily confronting us on our journey of self discovery.
Self denial is our awareness that we are being asked to sacrifice that which serves our ego driven ambitions.
In effect we are being invited to follow a road opening us for us, designed by The Father serving His plan for our life's unfolding story.
“Long is the way and hard, that out of Hell leads up to Light.” ~ John Milton
Trusting our inner inspiration, conscience if you wish to lead us through our daily journey needs time, and patience enabling us to grow sufficient faith in the counselling emerging into our thoughts.
“There are only two kinds of people in the end: those who say to God, "Thy will be done," and those to whom God says, in the end, "Thy will be done." All that are in Hell, choose it. Without that self-choice there could be no Hell. No soul that seriously and constantly desires joy will ever miss it. Those who seek find. Those who knock it is opened.” ~ C. S. Lewis
Our choices, our decisions are often inspired by our innermost thoughts, discussions if you wish leading us to move in a direction that initially we would not have chosen. Changing ones mind after a deeper, and more thorough analysis of the dilemma facing us, might well be worthwhile when we consider that our patient reappraisal of our earlier decision has led us to a much wiser course of action.
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
~ Proverbs 3
