Beautiful mass in a packed church after which we processed with the Blessed Sacrament down oleander strewn alleyways to the church at the other end of the village (forget its name but I think the only one on the island predominately Catholic) for Benediction. Then everyone spilled out into the town square for dinner, kids kicking soccer balls, animated chatter between locals and visitors alike - a wonderful night.
Tonight I have been equally fortunate to attend mass at the Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, Strahov monastery, Prague. Typically cavernous Church overfilled with devout locals, beefing out hymns along with the full choir, organ and orchestral accompaniment singing a Mozart mass. The local ordinary concelebrated with a dozen or so resident monks.
It is so encouraging to see the candle burning, and brightly still, in places such as these.
