I quote:
Lord, I love your commands.
I have said, O LORD, that my part
is to keep your words.
The law of your mouth is to me more precious
than thousands of gold and silver pieces.
R. Lord, I love your commands.
Let your kindness comfort me
according to your promise to your servants.
Let your compassion come to me that I may live,
for your law is my delight.
end quote
Today's readings address the value we place upon the advice flowing into our innermost thoughts, inviting us to do all that The Father asks of us.
Way, way back when I was an altar server I learned from Scripture that Heaven lies within our own life. Nothing complicated, merely a daily growing awareness that I was being counselled from within my life. It took me time, many years to come to terms with my ego urging me to ignore the wisdom emerging from within my thoughts. Experience has taught me, and continues to teach me that Divine Wisdom provides us with all the guidance that we will ever need to journey through our life.
Making the correct choices predictably invites us to sacrifice our own self serving ways, in favour providing practical support for those who enter our orbit...even for a few minutes, seeking our help.
From my boyhood days I have treasured the wise words of John Milton per his Paradise Lost:
“The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven..”
I have learned over many years that sitting in silence, patiently listening to my innermost thoughts provides me with the answer, the remedy to all that is troubling me.
In response to a question from the Pharisees about when the Kingdom of God would come,
Jesus said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’
For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you” ~ Luke 17:20-21
