I quote:
R. Lord, you are good and forgiving.
You, O LORD, are a God merciful and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in kindness and fidelity.
Turn toward me, and have pity on me;
give your strength to your servant.
end quote
It's often the case that when we are at our lowest, when we feel rejected by our friends, and neighbours leading us into a depressing pit of self pity, that we begin to hear a voice speaking to us from within our thoughts encouraging us follow the advice invigorating our understanding, that in God's good timing all will be well.
Brothers and sisters:
The Spirit comes to the aid of our weakness;
for we do not know how to pray as we ought,
but the Spirit himself intercedes with inexpressible groanings.
And the one who searches hearts
knows what is the intention of the Spirit,
because he intercedes for the holy ones
according to God's will.
The Spirit of God merely asks us to listen to Him, inviting us to follow His guidance leading us out of our self imposed pit of misery.
- 1 Peter 5:6 'Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. ' - In His time He will come and lift us up and we need to be humble and patient while He is working out the details.
Our Divine Helper asks us to remain patient while we are implementing all that His counselling provides for our recovery, and well being in a new life filled with the joy of being led by our greatest friend.
Psalm 40: 1-2
I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire.
