6 Do not let your mouth lead you into sin. And do not protest to the temple messenger, “My vow was a mistake.”
Why should God be angry at what you say and destroy the work of your hands?
Holy Scripture references the temple, with an understanding that the human person is that temple.
The Temple Messenger is the presence of God's Spirit living at one with each, and every human person.
19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;
~ 1 Corinthians 6:19
The Holy Spirit is our “caseworker” adopted into The Father's family as His children.
15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.
~ Romans 8
Our God given friend walks at our side, inviting us to trust Him to deliver wise counselling enabling us to complete our life's purpose.
Jesus commissioned his apostles, saying,
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” ~ Acts 1:8
How will we know when it is The Temple Messenger advising us, and not our ego driving us to serve our wants? From experience it is when we prioritise the needs of another, or others that we begin to notice a persistent request emerging from within our thoughts, to assist those who by perceived coincidence are introduced into our orbit.
Citing coincidence is how human life understands unexpected events and surprise meetings. Just because we are taken by surprise does not mean that God is. Scripture is clear that God allows the flawed human being (each, and every human person) to walk the road of experience learning from our poor choices.
In ways known only to God, He takes even our mistakes and unplanned events and weaves them together to fulfil His purpose for our life.
“Experience: that most brutal of teachers. But you learn, my God do you learn.” ~ C.S. Lewis
