Then Peter said in reply, “See, we have left everything and followed you. What then will we have?”
Sacrificing our perceived life's prospects to follow the call of The Saviour, provoked the question Simon Peter addressed to Jesus.
Jesus replies to Simon Peter with the parable of the labourers working in a vineyard.
Kindly read this parable to appreciate my observations:

The vineyard proprietor whose decision to pay all the workers the same remuneration was an act of mercy reflecting on Our Father's intervention in our life, when His grace and mercy are lavished abundantly upon those of His choosing.
15 For He says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.” 16 So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy. ~ Romans 9:15-16
We are all sinful and “fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23), but God's grace is sufficient to redeem all who believe. Whether God calls someone early or late in life to partake of His grace, the glory and praise for our salvation is His and His alone and in no way amounts to unfairness. Just as the vineyard owner has a right to do what he wishes with his own money, so does Our Father have the right to have mercy on whom He will have mercy.
The parable illustrates that the workers who arrived early in the day, resented receiving the same remuneration as those who arrived to work later in the day. The vineyard owner replied to those complaining workers who had begun working early in the day, that he had paid them per the agreement made with them prior commencing their work.
In the same way, as Catholics we should rejoice when others accept the call to follow The Saviour, as we should rejoice in the service others render to Him.
The Father is faithful to us rewarding us for our service per His promises.
How The Father rewards others should be of no consequence to us, nor should it affect our free choice to do all that The Father asks of us.
