While drinking my cocoa at our village inn, this evening one of our Spanish visitors asked me what is the purpose of belief in God.
I replied that our words must be evidenced by our actions, corroborating the truth of those words that we use to express our trust in God.
Our actions should reflect our words.
When we are “in integrity,” our words match our actions.
To quote Dr. Seuss: “We say what we mean and we mean what we say.”
When we break from this pattern and say things we don't really mean, we move “out of integrity.”
Here lies the dilemma for many who subscribe to belief in God, choosing eloquent words when addressing The Father as if to say: your will be done in my life, Heavenly Father. When push comes to shove, will we make that enormous sacrifice our inner voice asks of us, to prove to The Father that we are not just another jumble of empty words.
Integrity is that awareness that we do all that we say we will, when vowing to God that we will do all that he asks of us.
4
When you make a vow to God, do not delay in fulfilling it. He has no pleasure in fools; fulfill your vow.
5
It is better not to vow than to make a vow and not fulfill it.
6
Do not let your mouth lead you into sin. And do not protest to the [temple] messenger, "My vow was a mistake."
~ Ecclesiastes 5
Either our faith in God is a transformation process on our life's journey of self discovery, evidenced by our free choice to reciprocate in kind with all that The Father asks of us; or it is an empty display of meaningless words calculated to deceive the person spewing hot air.
Self deception can lead to a life times sentence living a delusional existence.
Our growing confidence in Our Father's guidance, and wise counselling will teach us that His faithfulness, delivering to us all that He promises us, is guaranteed despite our many doubts.
We have full confidence in Jesus Christ. Our confidence rises as the character of God becomes greater and more trustworthy to our spiritual comprehension. The One with whom we deal is the One who embodies faithfulness and truth-the One who cannot lie.
