“Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”
In the Garden of Gethsemene Jesus revealed His doubts.
We may draw our own conclusions from the words I have quoted, recognising that Jesus was suffering sufficiently to sweat blood.
In our life's journey of faith in God there will be moments when our trust in Our Father will be tested to near breaking point.
Even Jesus faced His moment questioning whether His approaching crucifixion was the right path. Jesus resolved to keep trusting His Father.
Blaise Pascal chose to be brief when writing that it is not certain, that everything is uncertain. Blaise Pascal could well have believed that our growing experience over time will endow us with more than sufficient trust, to remain faithful to Our Father when matters appear to be more than the rational person can usual bear.
Our Father will grasp our hand leading us through the trials, and tribulations that will build our trust in Him sufficient to ensure that when the dilemma facing us appears overwhelming, we will remain faithful knowing that He will do all that He promises us, to lead us through the storm that has clouded our perception.
Faith consists in believing when it is beyond the power of reason to believe. ~ Voltaire
The most amazing things happen to us at that moment when we are about to surrender to our fear that all is lost. We recognise from our life's experience that it is darkest, just before the dawn. It is then that Our Father intervenes inviting us to remain faithful, enabling The Light to open a path revealing all that we are expecting.
“God never hurries. There are no deadlines against which he must work.
Only to know this is to quiet our spirits and relax our nerves.”
~ A.W. Tozer
