and I heard behind me a loud rumbling sound as the glory of the Lord rose from the place where it was standing.
Isaiah 40:31 'But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
In those moments, days, months when we feel discouraged by all that appears to deflate our sense of joy it is the appropriate time to ask Our Father to lead us out of our void of emptiness. Our desert is also an opportunity to recognise that our aloneness, our isolation provides us with the opportunity to weigh up all that is inviting us ask The Father for His assistance finding a way out of our perceived hopelessness.The metaphor of lost causes may also be understood by our fall into a slimy pit filled with all that our depression has provided for us to bathe in misery.
'The LORD upholds all who fall and LIFTS UP all who are bowed down.' ~ Psalm 145:14
In The Book of Ezekiel, The Father spoke to the prophet Ezekiel:
The LORD said, ''Ezekiel, son of man, I want you to stand up and listen.'' ~ Ezekiel 2:1
- At first glance it may appear a rather brutal to tell a depressed person to get up and stand.
The next verse tells us that Our Father did not expect Ezekiel to do it on his own.
- Our Heavenly Father intervened lifting up Ezekiel, standing him on his two feet.
- Ezekiel 2:2 'As He (The Lord) spoke to me, the Spirit entered me, stood me on my feet, and I heard Him speaking to me.'
Those of us who have approached Our Father asking for His assistance, remain astounded that He would provide us with the necessary energy, strength by any other word to lift us out of our self imposed state of utter dejection.
Never delay asking Our Father for His help when matters become so difficult that melancholy fills our nostrils, leading us to surrender to our hopeless circumstances.
Do all that The Father asks with an understanding that He is present in our life, leading us out of our pit of anxieties enabling us to become His outreach into the lives of those He introduces to us, to join with Him at His Banqueting Table sitting at a chair next to ours,
Lead, Kindly Light.
'He lifted me up from the pit of despair, out of the miry clay; He set my feet upon a rock, and made my footsteps firm.' ~ Psalm 40:2
