I quote:
See, the eyes of the LORD are upon those who fear him,
upon those who hope for his kindness,
To deliver them from death
and preserve them in spite of famine.

Fear of God is simply a matter of respect for the creator of our life, daily leading us through our life's journey of self discovery.
20The Lord will give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, but your Teacher will no longer hide Himself—with your own eyes you will see Him.
21And whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear this command behind you: “This is the way. Walk in it.”
~ Isaiah 30:20-21
Today's readings also reference Abraham's journey of faith, whereby he learned to follow the path that Our Father was opening up for him each, and every day he woke from his sleep. Abraham is often described as the father of faith in God, the result of his daily experiences teaching him to remain faithful to God despite the many adversities he would face until his passing.
Abraham learned on the road of hard knocks that his best friend would guide him through every dilemma that he would face, with the added awareness that God is committed to all who trust in Him in all matters.
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.”
-Proverbs 3:5-6
