I quote:
There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit;
there are different forms of service but the same Lord;
there are different workings but the same God
who produces all of them in everyone.
To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit
is given for some benefit.

The Pentecost event evidences the birth of our church, our community tasked with spreading the good news, that God lives among us. The scale of this miraculous episode sowed the seeds of what we now understand as the enduring presence of the Holy Spirit counselling us to do all that He asks of us.
I recall an amusing episode in the life of Padre Pio receiving a visit from a senior French diplomat; when interviewed by the press on his return to France proudly declared that Padre Pio spoke the French language fluently, with a French accent. In other words Padre Pio had lost his Italian accent, when speaking in French. Some days later the abbot of Padre Pio's community publicly declared to the Italian press that Padre Pio does not speak the French language, leading the media to assume that the French diplomat had been mistaken in his assumption. The French diplomat later insisted that Padre Pio spoke French better than his French guest.
We should never underestimate the powers granted to us, through the intervention of The Holy Spirit.
