I quote:
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to bring glad tidings to the poor.
end quote
John The Baptizer had a reputation for living the life of an eccentric, alone in the wilderness. In today's language it can be said that he communed with nature, living the life of a recluse. It is also clear that John is revealing his living friendship with God, when advising his listeners that another will soon arrive :
I am baptizing you with water,
but one mightier than I is coming.
I am not worthy to loosen the thongs of his sandals.
He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
In our moments of silence we can enter into a dialogue with Our Father's Spirit, alive in our life asking Him for assistance when our needs become too much for us to bear. Our poverty need not be a matter of money. Asking Our Saviour for guidance how best to resolve an overwhelming problem begins a meaningful relationship with Our Father.
Our Father wants us to ask Him for help. It’s never meant for us to do God’s will by ourselves. God is the one who guides us along the right path revealing His outreach into our life, and those He introduces to us to help.
Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.
