If the Lord delights in us, he will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land that flows with milk and honey.
Biblical metaphor provides its readers with the awareness that the delights of life flow alongside those periods when our life is drenched wih sorrow. The promised land is not about a region such as Israel, but of a fertile life filled with abundance when we follow all that The Saviour asks of us.
"It was not through the law that Abraham and his offspring received the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness that comes by faith." ~ Romans 4:13
Faith in the presence of The Saviour alive in our life, is the understanding that we are never alone. What does this mean in plain language? Simply that each human person has immediate access to our greatest friend, and the saviour of our life. We don't need a degree in divinity, or theology to speak with the one who merely asks us to trust Him to lead us through our life.
One of the best made for television productions on the life of Abraham illustrates in some detail, Abraham's journey of faith. Unlike Cecil B. DeMille's, Ten Commandments there is no booming voice of God speaking with Moses. This television production uses the voice of Richard Harris whispering quietly within the life of Abraham. Richard Harris provides a performance that impresses me. Worth watching for the journey of Abraham assists us understand how Our Father intervenes in our life inviting us to trust Him in all matters.
