The flawed human person is as likely to be discovered living in a religious environment, as they are easily discoverable working within the governing elites of our respective nations revealing their inadequacies when under duress dealing with one crisis after another.
C. S. Lewis' quotation is an exhortation to not look for comfort when living in the care of The Saviour, while also recognising that the friends of The Father will always be shepherded through their periods of doubt when risk of failure appears threatening.

Here lies the dilemma for many of us living a spiritual life when our inner person asks us to trust its advice to do that which our life's experience informs us is not feasible. To do, or not to do.... here emerges the matter of trust, otherwise known to us as faith in God's presence dwelling in our life.

Each day we rise from our bed we are granted a fresh start to live our life, God's gift encouraging us to better the person we were yesterday. The discerning person is well aware that along with the responsibility of living another day, there arrives the awareness that we are better equipped than we were yesterday to cope with disappointment, knowing that our perceived failures are merely stepping stones leading us up the stairway to Heaven's rewards available for all who remain faithful in the face of adversity.
