Today's Gospel addresses value, as we understand the worth of anything serving the common good.
I quote:
For our gospel did not come to you in word alone, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with much conviction.

Cash has value for it permits us to earn, and exchange credit for that which we need to journey through life fulfilling our obligations to society, and assisting those who are called into our life to help them cope with their needs.
The value we place upon our own life is very much related to how we relate to the lives of those whom life introduces to us as if to say,
view your own flaws, and strengths mirrored in the behaviour of the person with whom we socialise. In other words we learn to improve our own behaviour when learning from those who by accident, or even by design teach us how best to live our life revealing the values that we respect.
When we are called by our name it is natural to respond to the person calling us, entering into a dialogue with a view to learning why we have been called.
"Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine." ~ Isaiah 43:1
Our Father calls us into His life that we may learn from Him the value that He places upon His friendship with us, with a view to enlightening us how best to journey through our life of self discovery. Friendship between people grows daily through a willingness on the part of the two friends to trust one another. Journeying together develops that trusting relationship sufficiently to believe our friend's promises, even when our rational understandings question all that our senses indicate is highly unlikely.
Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. ~ Hebrews 10:23
Our willingness to esteem highly the person who enters our life by accident, or even by a convenient coincidence may well speak more about us, and our values when understanding that their merits reflect our choice to befriend them.
Education without values, as useful as it is, seems rather to make man a more clever devil.
Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art... It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things that give value to survival.
Love is never wasted, for its value does not rest upon reciprocity.
~ C. S. Lewis
Our Father will choose His moment, His approach to tap us on the shoulder inviting us into His friendship enabling us to learn through our daily experiences that He is our most valuable, and reliable soul mate upon whom we can stake our life when storms threaten to destroy our confidence sending us into a whirlpool of depressing anxiety. He will lead us out of the storm, into calm waters where we may confidently resume our life, knowing that we are being protected by The One who loves us as if we are the only human being alive.
One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. ~ Proverbs 18:24
