This afternoon I was discussing the life of Padre Pio with a PhD student determined to prove to me that miracles are a matter of self deception, of delusions fabricated to entice, and deceive lesser intellects.
God, or The Father also known by other names has His way of communicating with those of us who are prepared to listen, and hear all that He speaks to us within our conscious awareness that we are deeply involved in a dialogue, inviting us to become His best friend.
“Let nothing disturb you,
Let nothing frighten you,
All things are passing away:
God never changes.
Patience obtains all things.
Whoever has God lacks nothing;
God alone suffices.”
― Teresa of Avila
In any personal relationship getting to know someone takes time, sufficient to teach us that we never really know people, until our life needs a friend who will support us through those periods when we need practical help, how best to resolve a crisis that is driving us to ruin.
It is only our own spirit within us that knows all about us; in the same way, only God’s Spirit knows all about God.
~ 1 Corinthians 2:11
That Eureka moment when we are illuminated with the remedy to the misfortune that had eluded our rational responses, is often referenced as an out of the blue inspiration leading the inspired person to stop questioning their doubts, that God intervenes to help us when we have lost all faith in our rational attempts to resolve our ordeal.
The penny drops when having reached the bottom of our pit bathing in desperation the answer presents itself with the ease that our intellectual reasoning had failed to deliver.
Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”
~ Mark 5:36
