Tradition and memory of the past must help us to have the courage to open up new areas to God. ~Pope Francis
We learn much worth learning from our journey's memories intervening daily, encouraging us not to repeat the choices that today we regret.
Faith in God must also manifest in us doubts, to know that our faith is true
Without doubt our sense of faith in God is reduced to an exercise serving the articles of faith rather than cultivating a loving relationship, emboldening us to trust Our Father's guidance even when our scepticism is attempting to subdue us, to surrender to our fears the result of life's storms encouraging us to deepen our trust in God despite our future appearing precarious.
“Doubt is an uncomfortable condition, but certainty is a ridiculous one.”~ Voltaire
That Jesus passed an anguished night in prayer, shouting loudly from his cross 'My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?' we may well appreciate that The Father expects us to doubt, thereby evidencing our faith in Him until death.
“Life is doubt,
And faith without doubt is nothing but death.”― Miguel de Unamuno
When in love we often doubt, if only to evidence that we believe, our love is true.
“Every mental act is composed of doubt and belief,
but it is belief that is the positive,
it is belief that sustains thought and holds the world together.”
― Søren Kierkegaard
