I quote:
The Lord will guard you from evil,
he will guard your soul.
The Lord will guard your going and coming
both now and for ever

The Prophet Job's troubles would open the eyes of a man who wanted for nothing, for His life had been filled with all that Our Father had granted him to share with those in need of assistance.
When Job's material benefits evaporated with his family and most friends deserting him, Job would learn through bitter experience that ones good fortune can blind one into believing that friendship is a simple matter of treating people as one would one expect to be treated.
Life's school of hard knocks teaches those who know that they have much to learn worth learning, that Divine Wisdom teaches His voluntary pupils that life's misfortunes are calculated to imbue the willing student with an awareness that understanding can grow only through disappointment buttering our bread.
One of the most surprising lessons that we can learn from a severe trial is our sense of isolation. Whereas in reality The Saviour remains at our side guiding us out of our self excavated pit of self pity inviting us to roll up our sleeves implementing His rescue plan.
Though The Prophet Job could not begin to understand why his life had been brought close to disaster he knew God was aware of it and was intervening to shepherd him out of his self destructive choices.
Job's resolve to embrace guidance from His only faithful friend... Our Father ... ensured that Job recovered all that he had lost and more, with the awareness that God's friends are always well protected when reciprocating with kindness, for all brought into our orbit to assist with the good fortune granted to us by the divine mystery to share per Our Father's counseling asking us to do all that He asks.
“Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?” ~ Job 2:10
