― Daniel Defoe, Robinson Crusoe
Wise sages over the centuries inform us that fear of danger is ten thousand times more terrifying than danger itself, there being a growing awareness that the wolf at our door is in reality nothing more than the imagination exaggerating the size of the dilemma inciting us to over react.
The Gifts of the Holy Spirit are distributed to each and every human person that all may participate in the banquet that Our Father provides for His children. Simple gifts that speak to our need to assist those who appear in our lives by chance; coincidence, should such an accidental meeting be understood as merely another encounter of many during the passage of our time.
Scripture often references the laying of hands on those in need of healing from one sickness, or another there being an understanding that the gift of healing is available to all who are led by The Holy Spirit to participate in His joy serving all in need of assistance.
And it happened that the father of Publius was lying in bed afflicted with recurrent fever and dysentery; and Paul went in to see him and after he had prayed, he laid his hands on him and healed him. ~ Acts 28:8
Padre Pio's healing ministry was understood by him to be the norm, never extraordinary as we understand God's gifts provided to serve the needs of the human person.
You complain because the same trials are constantly returning. But look here, what have you to fear? Are you afraid of the divine craftsman who wants to perfect His masterpiece in this way? Would you like to come from the hands of such a magnificent Artist as a mere sketch and no more? ~ Padre Pio
Being there for a depressed neighbour patiently listening to their troubles is also part of the healing ministry supplied by divine providence to offer solace, and wise advice for all brought into our orbit.
It has been my experience that when we embrace the Divine Presence as our most beloved friend, He will reciprocate with the gifts that He bestows upon those who in our turn do all that He asks of us.
6 So I ask you to make full use of the gift that God gave you when I placed my hands on you.[a] Use it well. 7 God’s Spirit doesn’t make cowards out of us. The Spirit gives us power, love, and self-control .
~ 2 Timothy 1
