I quote:
So therefore, none of you can become my disciple if you do not give up all your possessions.
end quote
In plain language The Saviour tells us that unless we place at His disposal the gifts that He has granted us, to share with those He calls into our life, we cannot become His friends having rejected His request to do as He asks.
In a public swimming pool there is a shallow end reserved for children, and adults just at the beginning of their swimming lessons. With time and experience the apprentices will advance to swim in the deep end of the pool. So it is with those of us who freely choose to accept the invitation of The Saviour to follow Him all the days of our life, by doing all that He asks of us.
Divine Wisdom provides us with all that we will ever need to implement Our Father's plan, granting us life as the outreach of The Father into the lives of those He sends to us to assist. Those provisions are timed to arrive in our life at the appropriate moment, when they will be needed to serve all that we are inspired to help.
Matthew 7:2425 Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.
That rock is The Saviour providing us with all the protection, and confidence that we will ever need to weather the storms that life sends us to deepen our faith in Our Father's life, alive in ours.
Setting us free from enslavement to our mortal self is the natural outcome of embracing the call of The Saviour, to follow Him.
Enlightenment, or illumination is a growing awareness that we are being influenced from within our life to change the way we are living, towards self improvement that enables each, and human person to live in freedom from fear.
The realisation that we are receiving wise counsel is never an event, rather a process inviting the faithful friend of The Saviour to trust the advice beginning to flow into our lives, very much like a river filled with unceasing wisdom steering us out of trouble, into harmonious waters where we may contemplate the wisdom inviting us to change the way we live our lives.
James 1:25 But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be happy in what he does.
Trusting The Saviour necessitates us gradually progressing from the paddling pool, into deeper waters where our developing trust in The Father's love for all who answer His call, liberates us from any fear that we are being delusional, when trusting that interior voice guiding us out of harm's way into a rewarding life.
Luke 11:28 But Jesus said, On the contrary, happy are those who hear the word of God and observe it.
