~ Galileo Galilei
Faced with overwhelming odds most of us, if not all of us are tempted to accept what appears to be the inevitable, resigning ourselves to the fate that lies before us. Pessimism is not the reason why we might feel obliged to surrender to our fear that we have been defeated by events beyond our control. On the other hand it can also be argued that there is somewhere lodged in the human psyche an unwillingness, a determination not to bow down to our fears, preferring to listen to that ever so subtle inner voice encouraging us to conquer our fears, by accepting life's challenge to overcome all thought of being defeated by our lack of faith in The One asking us to let Him show us the way through our moments of doubt.
“Never let the future disturb you. You will meet it, if you have to, with the same weapons of reason which today arm you against the present.” ~ Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
Trust in God is always revealed through our free choice to place our selves into the tender, loving embrace of Our Father inspiring us, and reassuring us to fear for nothing when ever His inner whisper guides us to take His hand that He may lead us through our trials, into green pastures and freedom to enjoy the results of our faith that all will be well.
Sirach 2
Faithfulness to God
2 My child, if you are going to serve the Lord, be prepared for times when you will be put to the test. 2 Be sincere and determined. Keep calm when trouble comes. 3 Stay with the Lord; never abandon him, and you will be prosperous at the end of your days. 4 Accept whatever happens to you. Even if you suffer humiliation, be patient. 5 Gold is tested by fire, and human character is tested in the furnace of humiliation. 6 Trust the Lord, and he will help you. Walk straight in his ways, and put your hope in him.
