Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.
One of the philosophical guidelines of Kung Fu training invites the practitioner not to harm another human person, even when being assaulted by those with evil intentions.
Self defence in the face of aggressive behaviour encourages the Kung fu student to remain true to their beliefs, by defending with no other thought than to stop the attack on their person, by disabling the aggressor; never by harming them.
