Wednesday last I was visiting a neigbour hospitalised with a kidney complaint leading to her collapse. Ariadne has been dutiful wife, and mother of four fine children. At 79 years of age she is faced with the prospect of a long hospital visit with an optimistic prognosis. Her friends visit enthusiastically reminding her that her garden needs her green fingers, and her neighbours are waiting for her return that they may resume their coffee, and cake gatherings where they spends hours attempting to resolve the challenges that confront the village community.
The bitterest tears shed over graves are for words left unsaid and for deeds left undone. ~Harriet Beecher Stowe
Left too late words are meaningless when spoken over a coffin. We are invited to grasp the moment there being an awareness that at any age life waits for no one, especially for those watching life flow by from their kitchen window, anticipating re-acquainting with their school years acquaintances barely a bus ride away.
Don't be fooled by the calendar. There are only as many days in the year as you make use of. ~Charles Richards
Relationships die when we fail to feed them with our time and investment in the lives of those who once upon time were a very important contribution to our daily happiness.
Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life ~Omar Khayyam
There is joy when grasping the moment that appears to be fleeting, yet caresses us with an awareness that, that moment shared with another rewards us with satisfaction only understood when experienced with those seeking us.
Happiness is never a place, it is the realisation that in a moment in time, we enjoy the pleasure of sharing our time with those who reciprocate with their appreciation, by being present with us.
“Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.”
~ Marcel Proust
