Whether you're an ardent Pope Francis fan or vehement detractor, it seems difficult to avoid acknowledging the extraordinary DIVISIVENESS that has accompanied his Pontificate that has now reached fever pitch. There's been many rumblings in the last week for the Pope to resign over the Vigaṇ allegations. It might well be asked if such a drastic step could be justified on the grounds of the damage being done to the Church by his apparent ability, intentioned or not, to generate controversy and division? At the current rate it seems not incredulous to speculate the Church is headed for a schism. It must weigh upon the conscience of an incumbent Pope under such conditions to consider their role in producing such a possibility.
