And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
Believing that our chance encounters are random requires more faith than interpreting those incidents as evidence of a helping hand.
The Greek word συγκυρίαν (synkyrian) can be transcribed as "in sync with The Lord," or what appears to be by chance depending upon our perspective. Here we are entering into the realm of coincidence, or synchronous events that can oblige us to stop and think just for a moment, beyond the incident that encouraged us to take a particular direction, bringing us to where we are...now.
For many people accidental encounters appear at first glance to be random chance, devoid of anything worth deliberating on. Citing coincidence is how human life explains unexpected events, and surprise meetings that have led us to change our plans until we are confronted with the inexplicable, or incomprehensible event that wakes us up, or opens our eyes to that which has long been inviting us to, do as I ask.
Even when we make decisions that are contrary to the guidance of the interior life, God's plans for each and every human person will stand for there is a self correcting influence that allows for those moments when our doubts encourage us not to follow the call of The Saviour.
The ambiguous nature of so called coincidence invites the believer, and the non believer to think outside the thought that good luck, or bad luck is a matter of chance. The results of our decisions lead us to where we are daily confronted with options that are calculated to lead us out of our self imposed quagmire into fertile ground where we may resume our walk of faith in God's providential plan for every human person who chooses to accept His invitation...to do as I ask.
Ecclesiastes 9:11 ESV
Again I saw that under the sun the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favour to those with knowledge, but time and chance happen to them all.
