Perspective is said to be drawn from the experiences of life that each of us lives.
When offering an opinion it is very easy for us to imagine that we are proposing a fact of life, when in reality our understandings are nothing more than our experiences providing us with our vision of life.
The wise thinker never pretends to know, rather prefers to believe that their understandings are the result of their experiences teaching them to be humble in the face of the those, who believe that they know better...than the rest of the human race.
The parable of the Pharisee, and the tax collector (1) speaks to the easy willingness of those who serve laws, to imagine that their devotion to laws will draw them closer to Our Father...whereas the self acknowledged sinner invites The Saviour to help them to better cope with, and surmount the trials that life sends every human person without exception.
Above all the grace and the gifts that Christ gives to his beloved is that of overcoming self.~ Francis of Assisi

Luke 18:9-14
The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector
9 To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’
13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’
14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
