'Judgemental' has two meanings:
- concerning use of judgement or critical faculty
- censorious, condemnatory.
Jesus was in a better position than anyone to judge (definition a) that the woman caught in adultery had sinned.
But, having done so, He didn't then seek her condemnation, but her salvation, as He always does.
Her salvation depended on her conversion, her turning away from sin, and He told her so.
For me, Pope Francis' language conveys all this better than Pope Leo's.
