RIP, FR JOHN GEORGE

This morning the Archdiocese of Sydney contacted TreaNd House to let us know of the death of Fr John George.
Fr John had taught at Daramalan College 1967-70; Chevalier 1972-75,85. He had been in the Parish of Randwick 1976-80, and then at Kensington Monastery 1981-83. John took leave in 1986.
Below is the message of Fr Gerry Gleeson VG, Sydney;
I am writing to advise you of the entry to eternal life of Fr John Michael George this morning, Monday 4th September 2107. He was aged 73.
Fr George was Ordained as Priest of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Randwick on 26th April 1975. He studied at St Paul’s National Seminary, Kensington, the ANU in Canberra, the University of NSW, and the East Asian Pastoral Institute at Manila in the Philippines.
After initially working with his Order, Fr George was appointed Assistant Priest to the parishes of Miranda, Mascot, Revesby, Lidcombe and Belmore. He was Incardinated into the Archdiocese of Sydney in June 1990.
He served as Chaplain to the Waverley Christian Brothers’ Community and to Charingfield Hostel and retired to lesser duties in July 2002.
